Safety and an Infant Bicycle Seat

Many new parents think it's a great idea to take their babies on bike rides with them. However what are the options to be able to that? Well a parent has two basic options. The first is they can use a specially made infant bicycle trailer or the other option of an infant bicycle seat. Obviously everyone knows what a trailer is but what rules are there for purchasing and using a bicycle seat for your infant or baby.

To start off, it is type of chair that easily attaches to the bike behind the rider. Plus it is made for young babies so you can cart them around with you very easily on your bike.

The Rules

· Everyone and anyone that rides a bike should always at all times wear a helmet. That includes your baby as well.

· Usually a babies neck muscles are too weak to hold a helmet under they reach one- year and so you should not put your baby on this seat until they can support their neck and can sit with a safety helmet on.

· When purchasing one of these always make sure and follow the height and weight recommendations rather than going by age.

· The added weight of your child can drastically change the center of gravity on your bike. That is one reason why you should always practice mounting and dismounting safely so you know what you and the bike can handle.

· Be aware of the weather. In the summer make sure your precious babies skin is protected with sunscreen and in the winter bundle him or her up in warm clothing.

In conclusion while baby bike trailers will not last you a very long time as a child is usually only ready for it around 12 months, they still are very handy to own. Your child will love sitting in it and you will love sharing your bike riding activities with your baby.
